After much delay I finally made my own blog site. I have always wanted to write one but I never had the time nor had the skill to make one. But with this summer, I couldn’t imagine a much better time to make one. I will explain more below to why I started blogging.
Let me first begin by giving a rough sketch about myself. My name is Franz Jeremy Sandil, born in Manila, Philippines. My family was neither rich nor poor, but it was enough for us to sustain our daily living. We all wanted a better future just like every filipino, so we immigrated to the United States. Our journey started in New York, New York City. The sounds of the bustling buses, the smell of the rising smoke and the sight of people from all across the globe inspired us to dream big. Sounds like the American Dream right? We believed it and it was, from there on we were able to save money to buy a house to where we are now, Houston, Texas. I know that was short and to the point, but the rest and details are a story worthy of a blog entry. Pasensya na
5 Reasons why I am starting a blog
1. It will serve as my personal digital space
I wanted something where I will be able to not only share content through writing but pictures as well. With a blog I will be able to visually see myself grow and see how far I have gone. In addition, by having a digital space, it will help me gain confidence in myself. This is where I can speak out my voice and even admit a mistake or two. I can be true to myself as much as I want without having to worry about being judged too much. I’m still trying to get used to writing freely and open minded with blogging. Hopefully within a few months I will get used to it and become better.
2. Help me develop writing and communication skills
Last summer I made a tumblr and used it as a blog/daily journal. I know you could probably post other content on tumblr but it felt like it was limited. Thus, I gave up on it midway through the summer, but it was not a complete waste. When I took my first college writing course I was surprised on how effective of a writer I became. I thought I would bomb the class because I knew I was a terrible writer, but I guess my daily entries on tumblr helped me become a better one. I am not saying I instantly became perfect at it because I know for a fact I still need improvement. But what I do know was the more I wrote, the better of a writer/blogger I would become.
3. Share my adventures and experiences
With my world starting to feel like it is in fast forward mode, constantly moving from place to place, a blog would be the best place to post multiple pictures of whatever I do. Rather than spamming social media, this will be a much better way of sharing as I can make it as detailed or bare as possible. With this blog, I want to share not only my travel journey but also my style/fashion, fitness, food, and anything else that I feel is worth sharing. Blogging is just an easy and organized way of showing and sharing content in an aesthetic way.
4. Try something new
Like I said before, this is something I have really wanted to do for so long. Thank god to the power of Youtube and Google there are multiple different tutorials on how to blog; from the most basic drag and drop to coding one from scratch. I will do my best to keep up as I invested time and money ($12.00) to set this site up. Nevertheless, the great thing about blogging is that I have complete control to what I desire. I may stop or use this throughout my whole life, but that is what is exciting about trying something new. One may find something that they may love or not like that new thing and move on to the next. To me, the thought of finding something I could be passionate about is worth all the risk.
5. Meet new people
Blogging believe or not could actually be used to network. With the many bloggers throughout the world, from all walks of life you can never know who you might be able to meet or even be friends with. The great thing that I liked about blogging is that the community is there for one another and not there for competition. From my experience, bloggers are always willing to help and encouraging you to succeed.
My intent for my blog is to make it into my own personal space where I am free to express and share what I please. I am not anticipating nor wanting to do this for money as that is not my intention. I just want to be able to help and give tips to people whether that is by giving style advice, a workout routine, recommending restaurant, or new places to discover. As I blogger I want to continue passing on its spirit of sharing through my words and eyes.
